Background
Beginning with backyard whiffle ball, a basketball hoop in the driveway, and anyone who would have a catch with me, sports was my first love. My enjoyment in life came from an incessant desire to play; all I could do to get my hands on a game and compete.
As a psychologist, my path took another direction. But after years of working with various populations, I’ve returned to my roots in my endeavors as a sports psychologist. I’m passionate about the work I do with athletes, and believe in the many benefits that come with mental growth. On the field or off, every aspect of life affects another. With a holistic approach to sports psychology, my approach focuses on the person, not just the athlete.
With over 20 years of clinical practice in the field, Dr. Denkin is an experienced and highly skilled psychologist. He utilizes a variety of treatment approaches, always with the goal of helping to foster personal growth and improve overall health and well-being. As a former collegiate athlete and coach, he understands the many challenges that accompany balancing optimal mental health with the dedication and commitment to sports. Taking a holistic approach, his philosophy is rooted in the belief that athletic performance is interconnected with many aspects of life.
